Recording: Investing in natural capital – TIG at Investing for Good USA Conference

At the Investing for Good USA Conference hosted by FT Live, BTG Pactual Timberland Group’s CSO Mark Wishnie joined Simon Mundy, Moral Money Editor for Financial Times, for a keynote session to discuss the opportunities for investment in natural capital as a climate solution.

When it comes to climate action, institutional investors – who control trillions of dollars in the global economy – have an important role to play. Like companies, investors are increasingly committing to climate targets with more than $43 trillion in assets and portfolios committed to net neutrality by 2050. Investors are increasingly looking for positive social and environmental impacts in addition to returns from their investments. And increasingly they are searching for ways to align their portfolios with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

On the other hand, despite the potential of natural climate solutions to deliver a third of the climate solution by 2030, private sector finance has not yet been mobilized at the scale needed to unlock the opportunity.

This session focused on newly emerging, investable and scalable propositions, that allow investors to achieve significantly enhanced climate and biodiversity outcomes, while still generating competitive returns.
